26th May 2008 Windsurfing: Ynyslas Wind Direction: NE Wind Stength: 25-40 knots Surf / Sea State: choppy Air Temperature: 12C Sea Temperature: 12C Weather: overcast Max Speed: Distance Covered: Ivor was at it again. This was a bit of a mad session. We stopped of at the golf course on the way over just to sort out some kit in the car before getting into the sand storm that was the estuary. Saw this crumpled boom kinda bent at 90 degress. Next thing Impi appears over from the front with wave kit, and then came the story of an expensive crash, aouch! Anyway, onto the estuary and today it was mad, easily upto 40 knots and more in the big gusts. Waited for others to arrive and watched Jon go kiting which, looked pretty hairy to be honest. Then Impi arrived and couldn't help another session, meanwhile a mad German tried to impale himself on a car before pulling the safety on a 9.0m. He came over to ask what the wind speed was, so we told him 40 knots and that his kite was a bit on the large side, Jon left him with a flea in his ear about launching near the cars, dooh! So on the water I rigged an old 4.0m and wave board. Some 'interesting' runs but all good fun, quite gusty which was a bit annoying. Packed up in one hell of a sand storm and ended up just chucking everything in the car and going to the golf course to wash myself and all the kit down and to repack the car. Mad, but strangley fun. |
